My group (C): Me,Tia, Kevin, Suleiman
WEEK 1: Today we got into our groups. My group decided to film Kevin's story. We discussed our roles and each persons part towards the group. We had a look in the green room and had a talk about which locations we can use for filming. I think that in the next lesson we will talk about each persons character in more depth.
WEEK 2: In todays lesson we reviewed on our characters and made each persons role clear so that when it came to filming the opening scene we'd all be confident with our role and to have a rough idea of what time of clothing we should bring in. At first my group was unclear on who was going to take the femme fatale role but after a group discussion we came to a agreement. I will be taking the role of femme fatale, Suleiman will be a doomed hero, Tia is acting some parts and helping with behind the scene alongside Kevin.
Week 3: Today, we filmed some of our shots and took some pictures of certain scenes. With permission, we went into the alleyway outside school to film some shots and all shot some scenes near the RS huts. Overall, we got on well as a group and agreed on different point of views and applied it to our work.
Week 4: Today (Wednesday's single lesson) we reviewed on our video and talked about the changes that had to be made. We also talked about the scenes we are going to shoot for tomorrow's double lesson.
(Thursday's lesson) - On Thursday we filmed scenes when the doomed hero finds a wallet which will lead him to meeting the femme fatale. We aren't happy with all the scenes and plan to re-do some scenes of the doomed hero and my scene (femme fatale)
Week 5: In this lesson (Wednesday) we contributed our ideas and came to the decision to film the film fatale and doomed hero scene. Today we managed to finish Suleiman's scene outdoors and inside the green room. It was our first time in the green room and so we struggled at times but learnt everything as we went along. We were successful in uploading our videos onto the Mac but we haven't edited any of our videos yet. After the Christmas half-term we will use our single and double lessons to edit, once we finish filming all the scenes. We are going to film my film noir scene in next weeks double lesson.
Week 6: In todays lesson we watched the Kiss of a Killer, comparing it to our film and the changes we can make and when applying it to our work. As a group we have to focus on using different type of shots (e.g low shots, close ups and using different angles) to make our film look more effective. We discussed what we are going to do in tomorrows double lesson in more detail and the scenes we are hoping to finish by a certain time. We also talked about each shot and the different locations in which we are going to film. Overall, we are getting on well as a group and each person is committing themselves and their time towards filming and keeping focussed when editing, filming and group discussions.
Week 7: On thursdays lesson we went and shot a few scenes in pears building. We weren't happy with all of the outcomes and may re-shoot a few. As a group, we got along with one another. When it came to getting into role, I struggled as it was my first time shooting. We have decided about which scene we are doing voice overs for and where film noir music will come in the edit done by Suleiman.
Week 8: Wednesdays lesson: Today, we found out that we only have two more lessons to film. We think we are behind on filming and are going to try and finish it in both lessons but if we are not successful then we will have to film in our own free time.
Thursdays lesson: Today we filmed a few other scenes in the pears building and have to do the voice overs for each scene. We haven't finished shooting all our scenes yet and plan to finish it in next weeks lesson on Thursday.
Week:9 Wednesdays lesson: In todays lesson we watched films made by former year 10's and looked at the different shots and angles in the film that could be helpful for us and gave some feedback and criticism on the different angles and close ups. We plan to get a lot of filming done by tomorrow and so we will do some filming during our form time and during the double lesson tomorrow. Tomorrow is the last day that we can film and the 2 remaining weeks are left for editing. Thursdays lesson: Today Tia, Suleiman, Kevin and I finished filming. Our main focus now, is to edit in the remaining time we have left and to record our voiceovers. Overall, we are happy with the outcome of the film and glad that we have finished our work in time to have a few weeks to edit during class time and our free time (break/lunch)
Week 10: When discussing where we are at with filming my group think that we have more less finished filming. I agree, but I think our film is still lacking some scenes. We are going to film a few more scenes tomorrow and then we are going to carry on with editing.
(Thursdays lesson) - Today, we chose the background image for the green room scene. Also, we chose a song for each scene where needed.
Week 11: In todays lesson we are doing the voiceovers and some final editing. We plan to finish editing by the end of todays lesson because it is the last day that we can make any changes to our work, as next week we are going to take time to evaluate our work.
We managed to finish filming in time and are adding credits to our film.
Overall, I think we have worked well as a group even though there were disagreements at times. As a group, we have come to the conclusion for Suleiman to do the voiceover alone as he is the doomed hero and is talking about what caused his death in a pessimistic tone. This idea came to our heads because of Sunset Boulevard and some other film noir movies, where the doomed hero talks about his troubles with the femme fatale
